Keeping pets in council properties

You may keep pets as long as they are suitable for the size and type of property you live in. Your tenancy agreement refers to the conditions that apply to the keeping of pets (section 18). You must keep your animal under control. This means you must clean up after it. You can be fined or taken to court if you allow your pet to foul public areas or to roam. You also must not allow your pet to make too much noise (for example barking continually inside or outside your home).
